The story…

TEASER

Sliding into the booth, he passed Aiden his beer and checked his watch. It was almost seven-thirty. “I missed you like this.” Aiden’s amused voice had Nick looking up.

“Like what?”

“Nervous,” Aiden replied, and Nick felt a warmth rise in his neck and knew he was blushing. “God, you are even blushing. You were like this with me at the beginning, too.”

Nick scoffed and took a large slug of his beer. “And could you blame me? You were out of my league, and I knew it.”

“Hardly,” Aiden said with a shake of his head. “I might have outranked you, but I was never out of your league.”

“It wasn’t your rank that made me nervous, babe,” Nick said as he leaned forward. “You are hotter than hot, and I always thought you’d realized you could do better than me. Add to that your nature and your personality and you pack a pretty powerful punch.”

Aiden held Nick’s gaze for a moment then nodded. “I find it funny that I was thinking the exact same thing. Here you were, this powerful, forceful man, who wore authority like a goddamn jacket. That dominance and confidence that you exude is a real turn-on for me.”

Nick sat back and grinned. “Yeah, I kinda noticed how turned on you got when I ordered people around. I knew that you’d love it in the bedroom, too. And how right I was.”

The two of the laughed, then became aware that they were no longer alone almost at the exact same moment. Nick turned to the man who stood beside their table holding a beer in his hand, and a carefully blank expression.

“Hey, it’s good to see you,” Aiden said first and slid further into his side of the booth. “Have a seat.”

Sam hesitated for a moment, and Nick shot a quick glance to Aiden. He had no idea what the hell was going through the man’s head, but Sam seemed like he regretted having turned up. Sam’s face cleared to a friendly expression, a smile on his handsome face, but it didn’t reach his brown eyes.

“Good to see you, too.” Even Sam’s tone sounded off to Nick, and his frown deepened. “The rest of the team are just coming in, and Dev wants to catch up on some business stuff, so I thought I’d come over and say hey. Sorry, I can’t join you for that drink, but maybe some other time.”

Nick caught Aiden’s look of confusion and knew that his lover was just as confused as he was on how to continue. So, Nick knew that if they were going to get to the bottom of Sam’s sudden change of heart, it would be up to him. He should probably go softly, try to coerce Sam into taking a seat and talking about things calmly, but that just wasn’t him.

“Sam, sit down in the booth.” Nick’s voice automatically dropped to the tone he employed when he was delivering his men’s orders. Sam’s eyes widened a little, but Nick noticed that his relaxed posture, as fake as it obviously was, because the man was anything but, seemed to snap taller as if he were standing at attention. “Now.”

Sam slid into the booth immediately and seemed both shocked to find himself sitting there and pissed off at himself for complying. “I really should—”

Nick figured Sam was about to launch into a reason why he should leave and cut him off before he could do it. “Unless the end of that sentence is tell you both what was just going through my head, then we don’t want to hear it.” Nick locked his gaze to Sam’s and held it.

Aiden chuckled, drawing his and Sam’s attention. “Christ, are you two gonna just stare at each other, waiting for the other to blink? Let me tell you something you might have suspected about the good sheriff here, Sam. He is stubborn as hell and won’t ever back down. Especially when it is in regards to someone he wants.”

Nick saw Sam shoot him a quick glance as if to see how he would react to Aiden saying Sam was someone that Nick wanted, but his expression remained clear. Aiden spoke the truth, and as soon as Sam came to realize that, the better.

Sam sat back in the chair, his eyes narrowing. “You know, I’m a Marine rifleman. I can be pretty damn stubborn myself.”

Nick grinned. “Hell, I know that. Aiden and I witnessed that in Afghanistan, but this is different. I want you enough to fight to get you to tell me what happened between the phone call this afternoon, and you standing by this booth tonight. And I reckon you want me and Aiden enough to put aside that stubborn streak of yours and tell us. The attraction we had for each other was immediate and off the charts. The night the three of us got together was pretty fucking powerful, too. Aiden and I want the chance to see if the three of us can have that with you on a more permanent basis, and I reckon that phone call this afternoon, and the fact that you’re sitting with us now, means that you do, too.”

Nick waited, and hoped like hell he was right.

Five questions for the author

Q: Every book is special to an author. What is it about this book that makes it special for you?

A: This is the third book in a series of four, and my first foray into MMM. I knew from the very beginning of this series that Sam was destined for something special and he finds it with Aiden and Nick.

Q: What was your favorite part of writing this book?

A: Learning more about Sam. In book two we learn that he, Nick and Aiden had met before, and in this story we find out how they met. And what an explosive start to a relationship that is!

Q. Why do you always include a danger element to your books?

A. I write what I love to read. I love books that take you on a journey, but where the characters face a challenge that adds an element of urgency to them and to the book. As a reader, there is nothing I like more than getting that goose bump, hair rising on the back of my neck feeling as I join the characters within the book I am reading on the journey to solve their mystery. I want to give that to my readers.

Q. Do you have anything to say to your current readers or to those that haven’t yet read you work?

A. If you have read any of my books, thank you so very much! It blows my mind that someone has actually read something that I wrote, but gosh I hope you enjoyed it! Did you? Please let me know, I find I suffer from a slight case of needy-nelly with my writing. If you haven’t read my book, but you love erotic romance stories between strong men and an independent woman, where the path to their happily ever after can be a bumpy one, but there is always a happily ever after, and their love and laugter is real on every page, then you’ll find my books right up your alley!

Synopsis

Carter Clark

I had it all figured out: a gorgeous girlfriend, a baby on the way, and a firefighter career I always dreamed of. Life was perfect… until piece by piece, it all fell apart, and I lost my will to live.

Molly Fowler, my best friend from grade school, had saved my life countless times. She helped me heal, physically and emotionally. At my side when I needed her, she guided me to be a better man, while she herself was hurting.

But I was too blind to see what was right in front of me. I was too blind to see that we needed each other. I was too blind to see how deeply she was scarred.

Molly Fowler

Life is peachy, isn’t it? Well, maybe to those outside looking in. But not for me. I’d wanted to leave Hope Bay since the moment I understood that my family dynamics were… unique.

I left as soon as I could, but an unknown force kept pulling me back to Hope Bay. A force that would save countless lives. A force by the name of Carter Clark.

But I was too blind to see what was right in front of me. I was too weak to trust in his friendship. Above all, I was too blind to see the danger still waiting for me from a man I’d never thought I’d see again.

Note: Right in Front of You is a standalone novel that follows Carter and Molly’s story from Yours and Mine. Contains spoilers to Yours and Mine. Intended for mature audience only.

Excerpt

Water dripped down our faces. It trickled between our mouths. The taste of her and rain combined made me hard. Her curls straightened, some of them sticking to her beautiful face, longer ones to her chest. Our clothes were soaked, and it felt as if we were naked. Thunder roared in the distance, but neither of us moved. I sucked on her bottom lip before pushing my tongue deeper into her mouth. The best part of kissing Molly was that she kissed me back. Hard and desperate, her passionate kisses seared against my mouth as she pushed her bosom into my chest, stringing her arms around me, gently scraping any part of my skin she could tantalize with her fingernails.

When I pulled away, I leaned my forehead against hers, heaving.

“I want to make love to you, Molly, so badly. I want to show you what being with a man should be like. I want us to make good memories, ones that will wash away the past, ones that will fill your heart and soul with enough happiness to last you ten lifetimes. I will erase your doubts. I want to love your whole body. I want to love you and protect you for the rest of my life. I do see what’s right in front of me, and that’s you, Molly. I won’t do anything to screw this up. I promise.”

“I want you too, Carter. I’m not afraid anymore. I won’t let him ruin me any further. I won’t let him guide my life.” Her hands slid over the water on my arms on a downward path until our fingers intertwined. “I want you as well. Right now.”

NEW from Naomi Clark @naomi_jay In Cold Blood [Urban Wolf Book 6] #lesfic #PNR

Hi there! Thanks for having me today and letting me share a bit about my new release, IN COLD BLOOD. This is a spin-off from my Urban Wolf series, set in the same world but featuring new characters. My goal with every entry in the Urban Wolf series is to open the world up a little bit more. SILVER KISS gives us a good, solid starting point with werewolves. BLOOD HUNT introduces vampires. PHANTON FEARS teases the idea of ghosts, and COLD NIGHT MOON gives us fae creatures (or one, at any rate). With IN COLD BLOOD, my idea was that, well, someone had to be noticing all these weird and wonderful creepy beasties. And someone would be keeping notes...

This will tie directly into the plot of the next Urban Wolf book, which will take us back to Ayla and Shannon. The circle of life, etc.

IN COLD BLOOD is the first of a planned trilogy about Phoebe, Aisling, and the Luporum. I already have book 2 mostly planned out (in my head, anyway), but my aim is write that Ayla and Shannon book first. So if you enjoy IN COLD BLOOD, rest assured that there'll be more from my socially awkward werewolves in love - and the Urban Wolf series in general! - in the future :) Happy reading!

You can find the complete Urban Wolf series, in reading order, at my blog here.

Phoebe Fairley wanted to be a librarian. Somehow, she’s become a vampire hunter. Women are dying across the country and the police are baffled. Phoebe’s just supposed to be gathering information on the deaths, but as the body count mounts, she can’t help but break the rules and get involved. She knows what the killer is—and catching and containing it is vital. If she can persuade the police to believe her, and keep her secretive bosses happy, she stands a chance of capturing a very real, very deadly vampire. Not bad for a werewolf who can’t shapeshift.

Aisling is happy living as a feral wolf. She’s got no time for human affairs, until a mysterious creature attacks her and leaves her in human hands. Now, if she wants her life back, she’ll have to join Phoebe’s hunt. There are just a couple of snags. One, she hates humans. And two, she’s falling hard for Phoebe. With a monster to catch and her own past to protect, will Aisling trust her head or her heart?

Excerpt

The scene inside the barn was surreal. Two big floodlights overhead lit the barn in glaring white. Half the huge space was taken up with sheep, penned off from the drama but still hysterically bleating and milling together. A grizzled man in a tattered dressing gown and Wellington boots – surely the farmer – leaned into the pen, talking non-stop to the frightened animals. Bales of hay were piled high around the rest of the barn, looking to Phoebe like they might come toppling down any second. They formed a rough arena for the main drama. Two more men held down a naked woman. She thrashed in their grip, tossing her matted red hair and snarling with a viciousness that made Phoebe’s wolf cower. This was their victim, this mad, wild thing?

Spalding hurried over to the farmer and Gibbs ran to the paramedics. They had to be wolves, from the strength they were displaying, but the woman was making them work to keep her still. Phoebe hesitated before following Gibbs – at a distance. Observe, Spalding had said. That was fine. Observing was all she was meant to do. The question was, what exactly was she seeing? The victim of a vampire attack or a feral wolf gone mad? She couldn’t help but lean towards the latter. Perhaps the woman thought the sheep would be easy pickings, but something had gone wrong. Maybe she’d been startled by the farmer or a guard dog. Phoebe had noticed a kennel outside the barn, although there was no sign of a dog now.

As she got closer, she saw the woman’s hands and feet were caked in mud, and there were thin red scratches all over her pale skin. Dried blood on her chest, too, although her endless thrashing made it hard to see where the original wound was. She stopped a few feet away, watching as Gibbs crouched down before the woman and – daringly, Phoebe thought – gripped her chin firmly. She was surprised he didn’t get his fingers bitten off.

The woman growled but couldn’t pull free of Gibbs’ hold. He growled right back, with a force and venom that made Phoebe quake. Did they teach that in training?

For a minute, the pair seemed locked in battle, the woman struggling against all three men in vain while she snarled at Gibbs. He didn’t flinch or loosen his grip, and kept his own domineering growl rumbling on, rising in pitch. The sheep grew more frantic and both the farmer and Spalding yelled at them with a mixture of anger and desperation. Phoebe felt battered, all the noise and tumultuous emotion like an assault. She wanted to run. She forced herself to stay, watching as Gibbs tried to inflict his will on the woman.

As much as pop culture got muddled with myth, some things were always true, just as much for wolves as humans. Some people were simply more dominant than others. Gibbs’ laid-back, clownish persona was all gone now as he pinned the woman down with both his body and his eyes. Phoebe would have caved already, if she’d even had it in her to resist. The woman, whatever her mental state might be, was not so easily dominated. But after what felt like an age, she slumped, stopped fighting, and went still.

About the Author

Naomi likes writing, perfume, fancy tea, and unfathomable monsters from the dark spaces between the stars, not necessarily in that order. She has been writing stories ever since she learned how to write, but is still trying to master the art of biography writing. When she's not dealing with werewolves, demons, or sea monsters, she's hanging out with her cat and probably watching a documentary about Bigfoot. If the cat isn't available, she's with her fiancé watching cookery shows and silently plotting her next book.

NEW from C.P. Mandara - The Velvet Chair [Book 1 in the Velvet Lies Series]

tvc26

The Velvet Chair is Book One in a Dark Erotica Series called
'Velvet Lies.'

Blurb

My name is Mark Matthews. I own half of London, and the part I don’t own, I’m working on.

Life was all going swimmingly well until Michael Redcliff entered my life, demanding that I marry his daughter. Actually, swap demand for blackmail. He’s got goods on me that I want no one else to see, so for the time being I need to be his little lapdog.

I’ll marry his daughter. I’ll give him all the status, money and power he can handle... for as long as it takes me to get a divorce. You see, I can’t renege on our little arrangement – but she can. I give her a week. One week and she’ll be screaming the place down for her legal counsel.

Excerpt - Jennifer

sexy blond in beige silk dress sitting on the black armchairMy hands were visibly shaking. Flexing my fingers repeatedly, I tried to still the tremors, but they were not to be subdued. It was hardly surprising. Today was the day I walked up the aisle and married… a monster. I was under no illusions that Mark Matthews would forgive me for what had happened, and I could hardly blame him. He’d been manipulated and sexually tortured until he could take no more, and then he’d been neatly cornered. He might have agreed to my father’s demands, but he’d come snapping and biting, feral as a wolf.

I sighed. Today was supposed to be a magical day – every little girl’s fantasy. A gigantic cathedral, a sea of flowers, a big fancy dress, and the man of my dreams. I’d imagined it would be filled with tears of happiness and protestations of love. How stupid was I?

Inhaling a shaky breath, I wondered what Mark would do with me. Having always been the sacrificial lamb in this family, today I was being sent off to the slaughterhouse. When I’d mentioned this to Michael, I’d refused to call him ‘Dad’ a long time ago, he’d laughed and told me to stop being so melodramatic. As if that made me feel any better. Dear old Dad couldn’t care less whether I lived or died, so I didn’t waste my breath trying to plead with him. All I had to do was play my part in this charade and he would be happy. I needed to keep Michael happy at all costs. The trouble was, in order to play my part, Matthews had to trust me, and I had a feeling that trying to coax that emotion out of him was going to be almost as impossible as trying to convince the Queen of England to relinquish her throne. Matthews wasn’t the sort to trust easily, and now that I had lost what little ground I had gained with him, I would be back to square one. Wrong, I thought grimly. I was going to be at least twenty stories below square one, trying to claw my way out with nothing more than my bare fingernails. Facing up to facts, I stifled a sob. The man was going to annihilate me.

Excerpt - Mark

As we pulled out of the Savoy’s car park, Jennifer was a mess. I had little sympathy for her. Each heartbeat that tore through my chest was full of fire, which spat sparks and burned like acid. I was sitting next to a traitor. My body throbbed with emotion, and not the good kind.

I had to admit the dress she’d changed into, just a tiny part of the massive trousseau that was now being shipped to my estate, was rather distracting. It was designed in a glistening oyster silk that caught the light every time she moved. It was seductive enough without the two splits that ran up the side of her thighs, and when she’d seated herself in my car, revealing a vast expanse of soft creamy flesh, my blood pressure had taken a direct hit.

My temper was already simmering in a large saucepan full of resentment, but that turned up the heat considerably. I did not want to be attracted to Redcliff’s daughter. I wanted to abhor her with all that was holy. Desire would weaken my anger, and that must not be allowed to happen. I needed to have a stern talk with my overactive libido and let it know who was boss around these parts.

Little did Miss Redcliff know, but she wouldn’t be requiring clothes for the duration of her stay. I would thoughtfully be providing her with all sorts of novel uniforms, and when she began to bore me, she could just go around naked. I’d decided to train her up to be a sex slave extraordinaire, and it was going to be an exacting and rigorous process. She’d be allowed six hours of sleep a day, and the rest of her hours would be accounted for. Cooking, cleaning, ironing, servicing me, pleasing me, attending to her own personal fitness regime, and some more ‘standard’ training sessions.

Failure to comply with her new routine would produce punishments the likes of which she had never experienced. After her first misdemeanour had been dealt with, I didn’t think there would be many more. I was in bastard-mode, and the girl was going to know about it. She had just become my property and I would deal with her however I saw fit. The mark of my ownership would be indelibly printed on her soul by the time I’d finished with her. The damn woman was going to fear the sound of my footsteps, her body would shrink away from me every time I approached her and she would learn to obey my every whisper or suffer the consequences.

My lawyer had already drawn up two sets of papers, one for an annulment and the others pertained to our divorce. It would probably take all the fun out of the arrangement if Jennifer opted for an annulment, so I didn’t intend to scare her witless in the first few days, but I fully expected the divorce papers to be completed inside of a week. I just needed to push the woman to her absolute limit, and then smash her body into the next dimension. If there was one thing I was good at, it was psychological and physical torture. Okay, so that might be two things. In any case, I’d get those papers signed, sealed, and delivered back to Michael Redcliff before the week was out. Piece of cake.

#MySexySaturday The Hunky Repairman #Saturday7 from Erotic Romance, HARD and FAST

Welcome to the 177th week of My Sexy Saturday

This week's theme: The Sexy Hunk

Joss and sexy repairman, Billy, meet again.
A Snip from Hard & Fast
[erotic romance, olderwoman/youngerman]

Excerpt

Just then, one of the wait-staff placed another glass of wine in front Joss.

“I didn’t order—” she began.

“The gentleman at the bar sends his regards.”

Joss grinned and glanced around the table at all her girlfriends and, as one, they turned to see who’d sent the drink. Joss started at one end of the bar and scanned the blue work shirts once again but this time the repairman that she’d been hoping to see was there and had his mug of beer raised in salute with a devastating grin on his face.

“Oh my God!” Joss breathed, grinning back like an idiot. Excitement built in her stomach, the likes of which she hadn’t known in a very long while.

“Who the fuck is that hot piece of man and where have you been hiding him, Josslynn?” Della asked.

“I don’t know his name, I ran into him at the bank. We had one of those conversations that was completely benign but it was like we connected and said a whole lot more with our eyes.”

“By the way that the two of you are devouring each other right now, I’d say you just had your second conversation.” Bryn giggled.

book blurb

This is Book 1 of 2 in the “Pleasing the Manwhore” duology.

**NOTE TO READERS: For audiences who enjoy the Fifty Shades/alpha billionaire fantasy. This is a M/f romance contains an age difference—a younger woman involved with a much OLDER, JEALOUS and CONTROLLING man. If you find elements of stalking, spankings, and submission/domination themes unappealing, then you will need to move on.

I wasn’t supposed to need him…

But I did.

I wasn’t supposed to crave the smell of his skin and require the very air he breathed…

But somehow I found I couldn’t breathe without him.

I was only supposed to provide physical pleasure and shove my emotions to the side, not allowing love a place into the equation.

He wasn’t supposed to own me. Heart, mind, body and soul. My God, I was such a fool to think I could go along with this arrangement and not involve my heart.

Synopsis:

Those big city lights seemed to shine so brightly when she stepped off that bus, but soon she discovered the pursuing of her dream had also been the worst mistake of her life.

And then came Sullivan Cooper.

In the blink of an eye he made all of her troubles disappear. He accepted her and brought her into his world of fast cars and fancy clothes. Immersed in Mr. Cooper’s universe of unbridled passion, Taffeta forgot he was twenty-five years older than her as he introduced her to his brand of pleasure and pain.

Taffi only thought she knew pain, until Sullivan Cooper taught her better.

excerpt

I sat in the music room, thinking of her and staring at the black piano glittering under the light of the chandelier. The depleted bottle of cognac resting beside my foot was a casualty of the war I’d fought to lose myself in an alcohol haze. From the sound system, a sonata seemed to mourn with me until the emptiness raged like a caged lion, testing the bars of my prison.

My God, she said she loved me...

And I could say nothing as the pain in her eyes tore me to pieces.

Dammit, the cognac wasn’t doing its job. It wasn’t pushing away the ache. The void I’d felt when her taxi drove away only seemed worse. Then her words ate at my heart like hot acid.

I…I’m in love with you.

I’d rejected her feelings. I knew Taffi wasn’t completely happy here, but I didn’t think she’d leave. Why didn’t I realize the money and the car wouldn’t be enough to make her stay? She wasn’t like the others. Privileged and self-centered. I’d known charmers, women who could intimidate the hell out of the President, but none of them had known pain or trepidation. Taffi’s life had been filled with rejection and fear, yet somehow she’d reached inside and connected with my fears.

This whole situation had blindsided me. I was unprepared, terrified to hear she’d fallen in love with me. After Alexandria, I swore I’d never get close to another woman, but the young thing who’d just walked out the door hours before had a power over me. She’d made me feel more alive than I had in years. And now that she was gone, the need for the spark she’d put back into my life burned hotter. She’d melted away the ice that had become a part of my DNA, and dammit to hell, she’d made me care.

I tried to divert my thoughts from her, but the loneliness kept pummeling me. Without the ice around my heart, the pain sliced right through my chest, piercing my soul. I needed to feel her warmth, her soft skin beneath my hands. Hear her tiny moans as she came. Kiss her so hard it hurt…

But she wasn’t coming back.

It was late, but I couldn’t turn in and get a good night’s rest. I was desperate to feel something good, something sexual. I went to the liquor cabinet, reflecting on what to do when I thought of one willing party who would take off the edge. The young college aged woman from the club had left the option open to call on her if I was looking for an adventure. She was an introvert who loved living out her fantasies in private. I’d been with her before; she understood my rules and her social status as a senator’s daughter demanded rigid confidentiality.

When I called her, she was agreeable, even excited, and, when she arrived at my door I was graced with a big smile. For a moment my heart ceased to beat. The smile was the look of wholesome innocence. The green tint in her eyes was familiar, and her hair was the right shade of blonde.

She reminded me of Taffi.

I couldn’t wait to fuck her.

Then hold and kiss her…

Because I needed and wanted. A substitute was better than nothing.

I’d told her what to wear and she’d come the way I requested. A white button-up shirt and black pencil skirt. Holding a basket with a bottle of wine and two glasses, she winked. “I remembered your favorite.”

I ushered her into the music room and filled our glasses. We sat for a spell, and when our short conversation drifted into an agreeable silence, I held out my hand prompting her to stand.

The last time I was with her, another party was involved, but she remembered how I liked to do things. Smirking, she strutted around the piano, her high heels clicking against the marble floor. Cocking a hip, she leaned against the instrument, raising her skirt to reveal a tempting amount of thigh. “I’ll do anything you want, Mr. Cooper.”

What I wanted had returned to Arlenbach, and if this young lady knew she was only a substitute, she wouldn’t have cared. We were consenting adults. She was benefitting from this encounter as much as me—acting out her fantasies. And I was looking for a determent from the misery that had become me.

The slight bend to her lips broadened into a smile as I moved toward her. I reached around her head, grabbing a handful of hair. Holding my lips just inches from hers, she moaned, “Kiss me.”

Fulfilling her request, I went to press my lips to hers, but the green glint I caught in her eyes again caused me to come to a breathless stop.

Taffi.

At that moment, my need grew into something stronger than I could control or wanted to control. Continuing the seduction, I pressed her harder against the piano, her lips burning on mine. Her encouragement to deepen the kiss elicited the image of Taffi and I together in my bed. I held the fantasy in my mind until my whole body burned. My cock lengthened, hardening as I reached around her back, pulling her into me. The face of the woman I truly wanted held strong in my mind as my hands slid beneath the hem of the substitute’s skirt.

Having followed my instructions of wearing a garter without panties, she opened her legs granting me access. Taffi, I thought, visualizing that beautiful face again, imagining her slim arms around me as I darted my tongue in the substitute’s mouth, tasting the wine. Tasting the bitterness of regret.

I’d sent her running.

She wasn’t coming back.
